How we work
Editorial review policy
This page explains how we select operators to review, what we look at when assessing them, and what our editorial scores represent.
Selection criteria
We only cover operators that hold a valid UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) licence for UK players. This is a non-negotiable baseline. Operators without a confirmed UKGC licence are not included, regardless of commercial considerations.
Beyond licensing, we apply a second pass to identify operators that are reasonably usable, have visible responsible gambling tools, and provide terms in a readable format. We do not aim to cover every licensed operator — our selection is editorial, not exhaustive.
Assessment criteria
We assess each operator across the following areas:
UKGC Licensing
Confirmation of a current, valid UKGC licence for UK players. Any active regulatory sanctions are noted.
Responsible Gambling Tools
Availability and prominence of deposit limits, session limits, self-exclusion, and cooling-off periods. Ease of accessing these tools is assessed.
Bonus Term Clarity
How clearly wagering requirements, eligible games, time limits, and withdrawal conditions are stated. Not the generosity of offers.
Site and Mobile Usability
Navigation, page load consistency, mobile experience, and account management clarity.
Payment Options
Range of supported deposit and withdrawal methods, with particular note of processing times and any associated fees.
Game Range
Breadth of game categories including slots, live casino, table games, and any distinctive content.
Customer Support Access
Availability of support channels and how straightforward they are to locate.
What scores mean
Scores on this site are our editorial comparison ratings, presented out of 10. They reflect our assessment at the time of review and are intended as a relative comparison across the operators we cover — not as absolute quality ratings.
Scores are not official ratings from the UK Gambling Commission or any other regulatory body. They are not guarantees of quality, safety, or outcome. An operator with a higher score in our comparison is not necessarily right for every player.
We deliberately avoid giving every operator a high score. Where we find meaningful weaknesses — particularly in responsible gambling tool visibility or bonus term transparency — this is reflected in the score.
Review updates
We aim to review and update operator entries periodically, particularly when significant changes occur such as ownership changes, regulatory actions, or major platform updates. However, we cannot guarantee that all information is current at the time you read it.
Operator offers and terms change frequently. We always recommend checking the operator's own site for current conditions before making any decisions.
Commercial independence
Our editorial assessment process is not influenced by affiliate or commercial arrangements. We do not accept payment to improve scores, alter review content, or omit negative findings.
